A voice from Montserrat. Danske Gas becomes a patron of the Escolania de Montserrat
The Escolania de Montserrat has sung in the abbey basilica since the fourteenth century. Danske Gas has become a patron of the choir – the support goes to the Fundació Abadia de Montserrat, for music education and the daily singing in the basilica.

An hour from Barcelona, a mountain rises from the plain like an organ of stone. On its slope, a thousand metres above sea level, stands the Benedictine abbey of Montserrat, and in its basilica sings the Escolania, as it has for seven centuries – one of the oldest music schools in Europe, recorded in documents as early as the fourteenth century.
It began with a visit. The singing heard in the basilica at midday stays with you longer than the road back down. Out of that memory came a conversation with the Fundació Abadia de Montserrat (the Montserrat Abbey Foundation), and out of the conversation, a decision.
Danske Gas has become a patron of the Escolania de Montserrat. The support goes to the Fundació Abadia de Montserrat, towards what matters most at the Escolania: the teaching of music and the daily singing in the basilica.
We understand patronage the same way in Warsaw and in Catalonia: discreetly, patiently and where culture outlasts the economic cycle. The energy we deal in usually takes the form of a cargo and a contract. At Montserrat it takes the form of a voice.
